2008 - 2009 Resolution

 70 ballots were cast for the resolution for next year.  The winning resolution for the 2008 - 2009 season is 2A.  The topic wording and a break down of the voting is below.

Resolved: that the United States Federal Government should substantially reduce its agricultural support, at least eliminating nearly all of the domestic subsidies, for biofuels, Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations, corn, cotton, dairy, fisheries, rice, soybeans, sugar and/or wheat.

 

First count of first-place votes:

1B:  2

1C:  4

2A:  34

2B:  3

2C:  4

So, resolution 1B was dropped and the votes were reassigned.  The second count of first-place votes:

1A:  25

2A:  34

2B:  3

2C:  4

So, resolution 2B was dropped and the votes were reassigned.  The third count of first-place votes:

1A:  25

1C:  4

2A:  35

2B:  

2C:  5

So, topic 2A wins with 35 of 69 votes.

 

NOTE:  Yes, 69 votes counted in the end.  One ballot was "dropped" since it cast a single first place vote for a resolution that was eliminated.
