Greetings from the West Point tab staff!

Everyone here at USMA is busily preparing to host you all in the beautiful Hudson Valley this weekend for what promises to be 3 days of fun and good competition. It looks like we will have 120-130 teams this weekend with partial double octos in all 3 divisions. We will be doing everything we can to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the tournament.

We have a few milestones we wanted teams and coaches to keep in mind as you are preparing for the tournament this week.

Registration: We know of a couple of teams who are attending who have yet to enter. Please finalize all changes to registration information (teams and judges) via the Bruschke site at www.debateresults.com by 5pm Wednesday. At this time registration will be closing. After 5pm, all late changes should be emailed to me at Christy.Webster@gmail.com, Kathryn Rubino at Kathryn.rubino@gmail.com and Joe Patrice at Joe.Patrice@gmail.com. Each judge at the tournament needs to provide a judging philosophy via Bruschke so that others at the tournament have the necessary information to do their prefs. There are a few judges entered right now who are missing philosophies (Alia Bellwood, Salman Haider, and Adam Herbert  are the ones I remember). Please remember to enter all judge conflicts on the site as well. Also, let us know if any of your judges (hired or otherwise) are not available for rounds on Friday. Registration will take place on Friday from 1-3PM in the Thayer Hall Rotunda.

Preferences: This year we will be using a category based preference system (A,B,C and Strike). On Wednesday evening we will send out an email with the numbers you should use for each division. Please use the numbers we provide and ignore any guidelines given in Debateresults.

In order to ensure that this process runs smoothly and that each team is afforded the best prefs possible, please know that the following deadlines will be strictly adhered to. Prefs for all divisions will open at www.debateresults.com on Wednesday evening (we will send out an email when they are open). Teams will have until Thursday at 11pm to complete ALL preference sheets. All prefs completed after Thursday night at 11 pm will not take effect until Round 3. We have a limited amount of hired judging available so please make sure to contact us NOW if you need it.

Speaker Points: 30 point scale with all tenths allowed. Ties are also permitted.

Internet: Internet access by visitors and guests at West Point is very restricted. Like last year, we will offer a couple of rooms in Thayer Hall (the building where ALL rounds take place) that will have Internet access for tournament coaches, guests and participants.

Transportation: We need final numbers from those who need transportation to  and from the train station. Please email Anthony Davila at davilaar@gmail.com and he will help to coordinate with you.

CEDA East Regional Meeting: It will take place during Round 5 on Saturday.

Let us know if you have any lingering questions or if there is anything we can do to make your experience with us easier/more pleasurable and we will try our best to accommodate.

Warmly,

Christy, Joe and Kathryn
