I received a couple of requests for clarification re: Georgetown's Debate Advanced Research Projects division.

We are rewarding certain highly useful free debate projects with very small monetary rewards.  For example, we will be paying Alex Gulakov for his Synergy 1.0 suite, although we do not "own" it in any conventional sense.  This isn't really philanthropy - it's a reward for increased traffic.  In truth, I think this is mostly a way to express gratitude to some very "love of the game" student programmers who are fundamentally transforming the activity.

Currently, for example, we're developing a card cutting robot which will translate firstlast into full cards.  I think this will produce some interesting shifts!
