Greeting colleagues –

We wanted to take a moment of your time to discuss the judge placement policy for the upcoming Texas Swing tournaments. We will use ordinal MPJ with an opt-in for judges that identify as underrepresented groups within the debate community. Our goal is to minimize lost rounds for judges that opt-in, to meet that goal the tournament intends to place judges in the top 50% with a mutuality difference no greater than 30%. But, in order to minimize lost rounds, the tournament may place judges in the top 75/80% and with a mutuality difference no greater than 20%.

Opting-in means the tab room will affirmatively place you in rounds up to your commitment with a goal of making sure all of your rounds are used. If you would like to be placed beyond your commitment please let us know.

Judges wishing to opt-in should contact Jeffrey.Jarman@wichita.edu with that information. We will also provide an opportunity at registration to add yourself to the opt-in list. We also ask that you contact Jeff with rounds you are willing to judge past the Octafinals.

We’re looking forward to seeing you all very soon and hope that we can provide an engaging and diverse space for debates.

See you soon,
