Greetings to All –

As many of you know, in the coming competitive season, Lexington will play host to the 2010 World Equestrian Games during the usual dates of the Henry Clay Debates.  This event is absorbing all available space in the bluegrass and has required us to make some changes to the dates of the Clay and the Round Robin.  After much discussion with a variety of programs, Dan Fitzmier and the Northwestern brain trust have agreed to exchange dates with us for the 2010-2011 academic year.  The tournament hotels (the Orrington in Evanston and the Downtown Hilton in Lexington) will continue to be our host sites.  This means that the dates of our tournaments will be as follows:

Kentucky Round Robin @ Northwestern [Evanston, IL]: Sept. 29-30, 2010 (Wednesday-Thursday)
Owen L. Coon Memorial Debate Tournament [Evanston, IL]: Oct. 2-4, 2010 (Saturday-Monday)
Henry Clay Debates [Lexington, KY]: February 5-7, 2011 (Saturday-Monday)

These dates will be posted on DebateResults as is normal practice.

Two important notes:

First, the exchange of dates will only be in effect for next year.  In the following year, we will all return to our regularly scheduled programming. Nothing else will change as far as the annual alternation of hosting duties between Northwestern and Texas goes.  The plan is that Texas will host again in early Feb 2011-12.  Northwestern will host in Feb of 2012-13 with continuing alternation between Texas and NU to follow.

Second, the University of Kentucky coaches and squad will continue to administer the Run for the Roses [Kentucky Round Robin], despite its temporary location in beautiful Evanston, Illinois.  While Fitzmier, et al, have been gracious enough to help us out with our scheduling conundrum, we would not dream of repaying their kindness by trying to saddle them with the task of pomp-ing and circumstance-ing the Run.

If there are any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Best wishes for the remainder of the season and best of luck at the national championships.
