Such saddening news. I'll always remember Matt for being such an incredibly passionate person and friend.

Also, i owe him a great deal for my debate career and (minimal) success. When i was a sophomore at CSUF taking Sue Peterson's Intro to Debate class, i peeked my head into the CSUF squad room -- where i stumbled across a Cam / Josh Clark vs. Matt / Randy practice debate. IT GOT HEATED. HEEEATED. But i'll never forget Matt's passion and competitiveness -- i later learned he cut a specific neg strategy for CW's aff, just for the practice debate. I'm sure it helped to push Cam and Josh that year. But it also was the first time i witnessed such passion over an academic issue. I immediately fell in love with debate, and knew i wanted to get involved. I have Matt to thank for that.

But much more importantly, Matt was a good friend. I could always tell he CARED. What a sad day. Love you, Matt!

RIP Matt. The three months we debated together were the best three months of my life in debate.

Wow. RIP Matt. Such a bummer. Great kid.

I remember when he and I debated together at Northwestern. Even though I was a philosophy major, Matt's knowledge and ability related to philosophy made me look like a psych major.

Thank you for writing this Cameron. When I heard the news, I struggled to think of something meaningful to say. I'm glad you were able to.

Dam! He had no connection to Los Amigos and would come and volunteer his time there when I was a young debater. Was always so invested teaching others. Prayers for his family. #RIP...

Such a shame.
I remember keeping track of any cite or argument he seemed to be excited about.
My condolences to you and yours.

We spend too much time remembering people positively in death and not enough of this in life. I remember asking Cam what was up with Matt. Sad for his family and friends.

Sadder I didn't do more to stay in contact with a guy id have called a friend.
