Visiting Assistant Professor or Visiting Instructor in Communication Studies (Forensics) at University of Puget Sound

Appointment: Full-time, one-year replacement, non-tenure-track position; begins Fall Term 2015.

Responsibilities:

Puget Sound seeks a Visiting Assistant Professor (or Visiting Instructor) and Interim Director of Forensics. Candidates should be teacher-scholars, dedicated to undergraduate education in rhetoric and argumentation. Primary responsibilities will be to teach rhetorical theory and in the University’s first-year seminar core: Seminars in Scholarly Inquiry.  The successful candidate also may have the opportunity to teach a lower and/or upper level department elective in their area of expertise. Candidates will also assist in administering and coaching the University’s nationally ranked forensics program which focuses on NDT/CEDA and NPDA styles of debate.  Other duties include continuation of professional development, involvement in activities sponsored by the department and University, and travel to regional and national tournaments with the forensics program.

Qualifications: Ph.D. (ABD considered, M.A. for Visiting Instructor) and a commitment to undergraduate teaching and liberal arts education.

Compensation and Benefits:

Rank: Visiting Assistant Professor (or Visiting Instructor depending on qualifications)

Salary is commensurate with education and experience.
