The 7191st Annual Halloween Costume Contest

On behalf of the Michael H Suo Memorial Harvard Debate Costume Committee, we warmly welcome your participation in one of the college debate community’s most cherished traditions: the Harvard Debate Council Costume Contest.

Coaches, debaters, passersby, and random tourists are welcome. This year, as in the others, the three top contestants will be given prizes of great value and topic relevance. Jokes will be freely given to all other participants.

Rules:
1. Nudity does not count as a costume.

2. Participants must wear their costumes from lunch to the end of debates on the Sunday of the tournament. Those who endure great adversity to stay in costume will be given due consideration.

3. For this year, our transition year, the Costume Contest Plenipotentiariat (CCP) will be comprised of Chairman Emeritus Brad Bolman and newly minted Sub-Chairman David Herman. Aspiring entrants must make themselves known to these trustworthy and discerning citizens to be considered for prizes. Simply abiding will not suffice. The CCP promises to avoid as much as possible rogue awardings by non-members but regretfully cannot stop unpredictable forces of nature.

4. Awards will be announced before the speaker awards at the ceremony.
