I heard a little while ago and am still numb.

Gregg Hartney was a friend who I met at the University of Arkansas High School tournament in the fall of 1983. We were friends in debate for 33 years which makes him my longest debate friend. I had not seen him much since he "retired" but each time I did we picked up like we saw each other all the time. RIP my dear old friend.

Damn. Just damn. That's a big, big loss. So sorry Joel, and Eli, and everyone else I know who grew up under Gregg's big wings.

So very very sad. He was a good friend. I will miss him.

He turned out a very fine debater. He was a close friend of mind working for me several years at the Emporia State summer debate workshop and staying in touch with me throughout the years. I am very saddened by his untimely passing.

Very sad news. I remember Mr. Hartney well. He judged us many times over my high school years. He was always gracious, thoughtful and helpful. He will be missed.
