A Big Thank-You!

As many of you all know, Ken Strange has decided to make his retirement from debate official and will be leaving Winston-Salem for the warmer beaches of Mississippi.  We cannot thank him enough or accurately put to words his contributions for Wake Debate.  It is not every day that you get a first-ballot Hall of Fame Coach to come spend time helping your students (and coaches) learn how to better themselves through debate.  We look forward to many celebrations of Ken’s legacy.  This is not the conclusion of Wake Forest saying thank-you.

Fortunately, Wake Forest University strongly supports debate and wants the position to continue even with the giant shoes to fill.  Below follows the official job call.  If you are interested in learning more, we encourage you to reach out.  Jarrod Atchison and Justin Green are both available to answer questions.

Job Description

The Department of Communication invites applications for a non-tenure track, “career teaching faculty position” whose area of expertise is in Intercollegiate Debate to begin Fall 2017. This person will serve as an Associate Coach for the Wake Forest University Debate Program. Responsibilities include: teaching (one course per year), helping debaters in the preparation of arguments, traveling to approximately twelve intercollegiate tournaments a year, assisting with the administration of the high school and college tournaments, assisting with recruiting efforts, managing practice sessions, participating in team and staff meetings, and performing a variety of other related duties as assigned. M.A. preferred.

Founded in 1834, Wake Forest University is annually ranked among the top 30 national universities. With 4,800 undergraduates and 2,700 graduate and professional students.
