I'm so sorry for your loss. I worked with Arnie at ISU. He was a GREAT teacher and debate coach. The students loved him and I'm sure many owe their success in life to him. If you need anything let me know

I am so sorry to read this. Arnie was a great guy- very easy going, fair, and consistent. He gave so much to debate, and I will never forget having had the opportunity to work with him as my coach. He will be missed, and our thoughts are with you, Cate.

Cate I am so sorry. Shocked and beyond words. We first became friends many many years ago when we taught together at Wake Forest. You are in my thoughts.

Wow. Cate, I'm so sorry to hear this. As Cate knows, Arnie was my coach at Pitt and facilitated many opportunities for me, bother as a competitor and after I stopped competing. Arnie loved debate so much, and I enjoyed seeing the both of you for many years at the NDT. He gave so much to debate and everyone in it. You are in my thoughts.

Wow. So very sorry to hear this. Arnie was a fantastic guy. I loved talking to him about antiques (one of his passions). Cate, I know you must be devastated. Please don't hesitate to reach out. You're not that far away! I will miss Arnie, but remember him fondly.

At a loss for words. Both of you have had a huge influence on me, and Arnie's demeanor always raised my spirits at tournaments. So saddened by your loss.

Cate, you and I have never met but I want to extend my condolences. I've known Arnie a very long time, from debate days all the way through buying and selling things. My thoughts are with you and your family. Arnie was a very nice person and I'm glad to have known him.

There are no words that could appropriately express the shock, dismay, and sadness of the event. So sorry Cate.

I am so sadden to read this post. I pray you are surrounded by family and loved ones. I traveled to debate tournaments with him in high school. You must be a testimony of everything he valued to write this with such grace. Thank you for telling his old friends of his death. God bless you- lifting you in prayer.

I sm so sorry for your loss. I grieve along with you and your family. Arnie was such an interesting and admirable character, one of a kind. There is never a good time to lose a loved one, and especially not when his death is so premature and unexpected. Your brave statement shows the kind of person you are, too, and how lucky Arnie was to have you as his partner in life.

Thus us such a shock. I am so sorry. As I see you can tell, Arnie was greatly loved by our debate community. I especially enjoyed reconnecting on Facebook as he posted so often. My prayers and sympathy to you and the family.
