Hello all --

I hope to have final details out by the end of the week (we are waiting on a job call number), but Wayne State is seeking a lecturer/director of debate to begin in Fall 2019. The DOD will instruct members of the debate team, travel to tournaments, organize and lead team meetings, organize and participate in practice debates and speeches, facilitate team research, assist with outreach, recruitment, and hosting tournaments and other administrative responsibilities associated with team travel, and other duties as assigned. The successful candidate will also teach courses in one of more of the following areas: public speaking, argumentation and debate, introduction to communication studies, communication ethics, nonverbal communication, persuasive campaigns and social movements, persuasive speaking, pop and celebrity culture, and rhetorical criticism, or provide equivalent service to the department, college and university.

Minimum requirement is a masters in communication or related field. PhD preferred.

This used to be Dr. Ron Stevenson's position. He is moving into the Director of Forensics position, as I am moving into the Director of Graduate Studies position in our department.

The program is strongly supported by our alumni, college, department, and university.

Midtown, the area of Detroit where Wayne is located, is bursting with new activity, restaurants, and shopping. It's a great place.

More details will be posted once the call is official.

Feel free to contact Dr. Stevenson, the search chair, with questions at stevenson.ron at gmail.com.
