The Department of Communication Studies at Vanderbilt University seeks to appoint a non-tenure track Full-Time Lecturer and Assistant Director of Debate (one year renewable contract) beginning Fall 2016.  Successful candidates will be expected to teach Introduction to Public Speaking each year. Other potential assigned courses include Persuasion, Argumentation and Debate, and Business Communication. Teaching responsibility is three courses per academic year.  Additional duties include: assisting the directing of the policy debate program, coaching and traveling with undergraduate debaters to regional and national tournaments, assisting with the annual Vanderbilt Invitational Debate Tournament, and some recruiting and administrative duties as well as assisting with campus and community debate outreach activities. Successful candidates must possess a valid driverís license.  Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Communication Studies or a related field.  Screening of applications will begin April 22, 2016 and will continue until the position is filled.  Candidates should send a letter of application, curriculum vitae, evidence of teaching effectiveness, and three letters of recommendation (sent separately by writers).
