On June 3, Pete Krein, former debater at George Mason University and long-time staple of D7, was admitted to the hospital with liver and kidney failure.  He remains in critical condition.  Pete's fiance, Pam Bowman, and the rest of his family are with him at the hospital in Fairfax. They have asked Pete's friends to keep him in their thoughts and prayers -- flowers are not allowed in the ICU.  A page has been set up on facebook for people to post messages for Pete, Pam, and his family.  They are reading the messages to Pete.  It is called "GetWellPete". The address for the fb page is: https://www.facebook.com/#!/home.php?sk=group_216482348383561.  You can also send comments to getwellpete@gmail.com.

On June 9, Pete passed away.  The facebook page has been renamed "In Memory of Pete Krein"
https://www.facebook.com/home.php?sk=group_216482348383561#!/home.php?sk=group_216482348383561

I know that many members of the debate community do not participate on facebook, so I will post comments from Pam Bowman's page and the Get Well Pete page on this site.  Everyone is welcome to post comments to Pete, Pam and his family, here as well.

Get well Pete, there's a lot of love in this community for you.

Sherry

From Pam Bowman (June 3):

Pam Bowman
Many of you reading this know and are dear friends with my fiancÚ Pete Krein. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers today, as he is in critical condition and in the hospital. I sincerely apologize in advance if I am unable to respond to each of you individually and may not have access to my phone.

‎Pete Krein, Pam Bowman, and their families are in my thoughts. I've got no coaching for this, but I'm sending all the hope I've got. I love y'all, and the whole GMU debate community loves y'all.

I know that Pam and the entire Krein family appreciate everyones love and support. Many people have inquired about sending flowers or cards. Flowers are not allowed in the room. Please send your well wishes, thoughts, prayers, pictures and stories to getwellpete@gmail.com. Pam and the rest of the family will be able to read them to Pete.

Love you, Petey. Get better. I've got a million great memories from the year I spent working at Mason -- going to tournaments, Bennigan's, playing four square outside the office. Thank you for that. Best wishes to all of Pete's family and loved ones.
