Register and Reserve Rooms for the SHIRLEY!
« on: September 01, 2016, 10:55:32 AM »
Hello All,

We welcome teams to register for the 2016 Franklin R. Shirley Tournament.  Great hospitality, quality facilities, snack tents and more will all be back.  Full invite will come out at a later date, but we thought the two items below would help with semester planning..

3 TEAMS! We invite each school to register up to THREE teams.  We have secured more rooms than ever for the Shirley.  Additional teams may be let off the waitlist based upon availability and competitive performance.  Squads who have a large number of teams break consistently in the Open division, regardless of tournaments' "regional" and/or "national" status, are more likely to have additional teams added.  Squads hosting collegiate tournaments will also receive consideration.  We also anticipate a couple of Wake teams debating this year.

RESERVE HOTEL ROOMS NOW! This weekend is a home football game with Clemson.  Hotel occupancy will be unusually high.  We STRONGLY ENCOURAGE everyone to book rooms very soon, even if not at the tournament hotel.  The tournament hotel information is below.  While it is not big enough to house the entire tournament, there are a number of quality options in Winston.  If it is in Winston-Salem, you can get to campus in 15 minutes.

Rate 99.00 per night plus taxes for singles and doubles, Rate 149.00 for suites.
Group code: 26O91Q
CANCELLATION - If you decide that you do not want to keep a room at the Hawthorne then please cancel via our contact: Jackie Malloy ( Last year 2 schools cancelled a total of 23 rooms
the Wednesday before the tournament, we aim for that not to happen again.
WAITLIST - Jackie will also manage a waitlist for us.  If you cannot reserve online, simply send her a message.

Looking forward seeing everyone before long!
