ASSISTANT DEBATE COACH/ LECTURER: The Department of Communication Studies at Vanderbilt University seeks to appoint a non-tenure track Full-Time Lecturer and Assistant Debate Coach beginning Fall 2010.  Successful candidates will be expected to teach Introduction to Public Speaking each year. Other potential assigned courses include Persuasion, Argumentation and Debate, and Business Communication. Teaching responsibility is four courses per academic year.  Additional duties include: assisting the directing of the policy debate program, coaching and traveling with undergraduate debaters to regional and national tournaments, assisting with the annual Vanderbilt Invitational Debate Tournament, and some recruiting and administrative duties as well as assisting with campus and community debate outreach activities. Successful candidates must possess a valid driver’s license.  A Ph.D. is preferred, but applicants should have at least an M.A. in Communication Studies.  Screening of applications will begin February 8, 2010 and will continue until the position is filled.  Candidates should send a letter of application, curriculum vitae, evidence of teaching effectiveness, and three letters of recommendation to:  Bonnie J.
