Speaker Points
Please see the attached document for the Wake Speaker Point Scale.  The Speaker Point Distribution from 2012 is also attached for those who desire more data.

Scouting
We are excited to welcome 75 schools to the Franklin R. Shirley tournament this year.  To our knowledge, this is more than any NDT or CEDA has had previously.  We say this so that competitors will understand that their opposition will likely, in many instances, only know their arguments by looking on the wiki.  There is also a decent likelihood that movement between buildings might cause later arrival than normal for some opponents.

We are strongly encouraging the following - Coaches, please pass along to your debaters:
1 - All Team's post any previously read 1ac's they might read with evidence cited and advocacy texts.  If you are more performative in nature, we are not asking for a full-text, but instead a summary appropriate to what you would want from your opponent.
2 - 2ac's to frequently debated positions
3 - Negative Round Reports - Even if citations are not available, please try to fill these in.  It stops the pre-round, "what have you gone for?"
4 - Cites to Negative off case positions

As with previous Shirley's, we will have coaches and debaters designed to tweak, scout and update the caselist.  Our approach to scouting....
- At registration, we will kindly ask any team deficient in one of the categories above to fill it in.  All Wake teams have been asked to do the same.
- During day 1 of the tournament, we will focus our scouting efforts on teams who have the least amount of information.
- During Day 2 of the tournament, we will focus our scouting efforts on teams "in-it".
- Day 3 scouting will happen on an ad-hoc basis.
- If teams are massively deficient in comparison to others, we will likely seek out their opponents and their judges in an attempt to gather information without directly confronting the team or coach of the team.
- Remember, the wiki was not designed simply as a self-reporting tool, but as a place for opponents to share information about other opponents.

We look forward to seeing everyone in Winston,

Justin Green on behalf of Wake Forest Debate
