Call for Nominations: Grad & Undergrad Topic Committee Reps
It is time for nominations for the graduate student rep and the undergraduate rep on the Topic Committee. These individuals would serve on the Topic Committee this summer including the topic meeting in Kansas City from June 11-13 (full CEDA Summer Meeting Info below).
If you are nominating yourself, please include your school, whether you are a GA or current debater (junior or younger), and a working email and cell phone #. If you are nominating someone else, include all of the above information and please make sure the nominee would be willing and able to serve and to attend the summer meeting. All nominees are committing to attend the summer meeting from June 11-13 if elected.
Also, nominees are encouraged to post comments about their approach to the topic process or other insight on their nomination. Those statements may be posted at any point between now and the end of balloting. Unless we do not have three or more confirmed nominations for each position by the end of the business meeting at CEDA, we will collect nominations until then. The current plan is to open the ballot for a week after the NDT—it should help both of the successful nominees to know the results as soon as possible in order to make summer plans. For a sense of previous statements and questions involving views on the topic and concerns the community may be interested in, these links are all fruitful:

From Paul Mabrey:
CEDA is excited to announce that Johnson County Community College will
be hosting the 2014 summer meeting. In addition to the topic and
business meeting, CEDA will host a one-day debate conference and
partner with the National Speech & Debate Association (formerly
National Forensics League) to provide educational and networking
opportunities for members of the high school and collegiate debate
communities. A number of people and programs have expressed interest
in a debate conference and more opportunities to work with the high
school debate communities. Our goal is to help facilitate this. We
hope that you are able to attend the meetings, conference and high
school national tournament.
The 2014 CEDA summer meetings will run Wednesday June 11 – Friday June
13, 2014. The debate conference will happen Saturday June 15, 2013.
CEDA will participate in the opening day of the National Debate &
Speech Association national tournament with booths during the
exhibition fair and educational sessions during the afternoon.
Overland Park, KS is conveniently located in the middle of the
country. Overland Park is easily within driving distance of many and
fairly close to both the Kansas City International Airport and Wichita
Mid-Continent Airport. JCCC is within 5 miles of the Overland Park
Convention Center, where the NFL events will happen on Sunday, and the
Crowne Plaza, where JCCC has arranged a hotel block for the CEDA
meetings. The CEDA meetings and conference will take place on the JCCC
campus.
The hotel is the Crowne Plaza in Overpland Park, KS at $89/night and
includes a hot buffet breakfast for those staying at the hotel. More
information on how to secure a room or rooms will be forthcoming.
