Hi all,

Neil, John, and I are looking forward to hosting the Vanderbilt Intercollegiate Tournament for policy debate in October.  Nashville is a very exciting place these days with approximately 80-100 new people moving into the metro area every day!  Along with that growth, there is much construction and an abundance of tourist everywhere.  Despite the numerous new hotels under construction, hotel prices are still very high.  I hope you will all make your reservations very soon.

The alternatives available are:

1.  Aloft Nashville-Cool Springs http://www.aloftnashvillecoolsprings.com
7109 S Springs Dr., Franklin, TN, US, 37067.  (615) 435-8700.

This hotel is south of Vanderbilt about 15 miles just off of I65.  It is located in the Cool Springs shopping area and is close to many, many restaurants.

Reservations may be made by calling the hotel at (615) 435-8700.  Group Code is "Vanderbilt University."

Alternatively, you may book online at https://www.starwoodmeeting.com/Book/VUDT

The rate is $129 and this block will expire on 09/20/2017.

2.  Baymont Inn https://www.baymontnashville.com/
2350 Elm Hill Pike, Nashville, TN 37214.  615-871-0222.

This hotel is about 8 miles east of the university just off I40.  There are fewer restaurants in this area.  The rate is $129.95 and you should mention “Vanderbilt Debate” when you call to make reservations.  This Block will close on 9/29/2017.

3.  There are some listings for slightly less expensive rooms on trivago.com.  These hotels would either not set aside a block of rooms, or they wanted to charge more than the Trivago prices if we did use a block.  Most of the options that are in the same price range (or less) as the hotels above are chains like Comfort Inn, Motel 6, and Days Inn.  If you use this option, I suggest that you stay within 15 miles of the city center and pick something that is just off I65 south of Nashville or just off I40 east (airport area) or west of the city.
