General Information   
The School of Communication Studies at James Madison University invites applications for a Co-Director of Debate at the assistant professor or lecturer level in a renewable term position to begin August 25, 2018.

Duties and Responsibilities   
With significant responsibilities related to debate, the position has a 2/2 course load. The position requires substantial experience as a participant and/or coach of NDT/CEDA style debate, potential to teach the basic course in communication.

Duties include assisting with day to day team management including argument coaching and administrative duties, and traveling to tournaments with a nationally competitive debate program. Additional duties include assisting with outreach and public debate including helping to create and execute public debates, recruiting, outreach to area schools and other duties as negotiated with the other co-Director and Assistant Director of debate.

A master’s degree in communication is required, a Ph.D. in communication is preferred. Applicants should have substantial experience with debate team administration, including an understanding of the fiscal processes involved in team management. Applicants must have a valid driver’s license.
