West Chester University of Pennsylvania's Department of Communication and Media invites applicants for a one-year Assistant Professor or Instructor position to begin in August 2019. We are seeking candidates who have the ability to serve as the Forensics Director of our nationally competitive forensics team.

Primary responsibilities for this position include directing a forensics program with a tradition of excellence in national and regional competition, traveling with students in university vehicles to competitions, organizing and hosting tournaments, recruiting and supervising graduate assistants, developing and administering the team's annual budget, and fundraising and alumni relations. In addition to directing the forensics team, this position will require teaching two courses per semester in our undergraduate major such as public speaking and argumentation or upper division courses in the candidate's area of expertise.

We seek teacher-scholars who are committed to student interaction and who will contribute to our valued collegial atmosphere. Applicants must successfully complete the interview process including a teaching demonstration to be considered as a finalist. This position may be renewed for a second year, pending available funding and successful evaluation in April of 2020.

Minimum Qualifications

Successful candidates must:

Demonstrate leadership/extensive experience in competitive intercollegiate forensics.
Have experience teaching courses such as public speaking or argumentation.
Demonstrate excellence in speech and debate coaching.
Demonstrate excellence in university-level teaching.
Articulate a scholarly agenda.
a Ph.D. in communication from an accredited university by August 2019 is preferred; however, ABD are encouraged to apply at the Assistant Professor rank. Additionally, persons with a master's and significant professional experience are encouraged to apply at the Instructor level.
