1. i worry a little that what someone considers "belitting" or "demeaning" can be part of the argumentation in a debate. it is a fine line and we need to make sure that we are protective of argumentation and free expression. a statement supporting the robust exchange of ideas especially in the context of debating would be good.
2. i think that the end of the preamble ending with "sanctions" is kind of negative sounding. i understand that the statement should include that but i would hope for an ending to the statement that supports the best behaviors in our community rather than ending on a focus of punishment.
3. i have a real problem with judging and sanctioning student/coach behavior based on their school's professional conduct standards. respectfully, i don't want ceda used to enforce standards and rules that the organization and its members don't agree with. i also think it would be very unfair to sanction a coach for a behavior while doing nothing to another coach simply because that coach represents a different school. punishment based on the school standards should be meted out by the school--not ceda.
