January News

Hello everyone: Two quick announcements.

FIRST: Due to technical difficulties with the CEDA website, the deadline for the election has been extended. The new deadline is January 26. The ballot contains candidates for several offices, including two VP positions, regional representatives, and the topic committee. The ballot is online at: http://www.cedadebate.org/ballot. Access is restricted to the ballot. If you are supposed to vote for your school, but cannot access the ballot, please let me know and I can get that changed.

CEDA Update - Important Debate Business at NCA - How you can be involved - even if you aren't attending

Greetings all,

Later this week much of the debate and forensics community with gather in Chicago for the NCA conference. In order to keep our full membership involved I want to pass along a couple of notes. There are now lots of ways to be an active participant, even if you are not coming to Chicago.

Introducing new CEDA forums

Greetings,

I am happy to announce that thanks to the labors of Jeff Jarman, we have rebuilt and resigned an important aspect of the CEDA website, the forums section. These have been modeled after the successful approach at Crossx.com and they offer us an opportunity to provide an organized way for our community to communicate. Forums are available for tournaments, regional issues, questions of community practice, organizational questions and a lot more.

Topic Announcement

Resolution Two (Size, Role, Mission) was selected as the topic for the 2009 – 2010 season. The awards amendment passes. A complete breakdown of voting and a list of the school that voted is below.

Topic voting - last reminder

Just a final reminder.  Ballots are due no later than July 16 by midnight (central).  That's tonight.  Please, don't miss the deadline if you'd like to vote.

The ballot is available at the CEDA website.  Click on Vote Here under the BUSINESS link.  Or, just click here.

If you need to pay your CEDA membership dues in order to vote, you can do that online, too, by clicking on the PAY! link.

July 2009 Ballot

The current CEDA ballot is now available.  All ballots are due no later than midnight (central), Thursday, July 16.  Schools that have paid their membership dues (or are emerging programs) are eligible to vote.  If you have trouble accessing the ballot, please let me know.  You must be registered at the site AND you must be identified as a voting member in order to access the ballot.

All information can be found under the BUSINESS menu on the CEDA web site.

Results are now available from the 2009 Spring vote.

CEDA Ballot

Hello everyone:

The spring 2009 ballot is now available online.  There are 9 amendments and 4 controversy areas to vote on.  All ballots are due by midnight, Wednesday May 13.

The four controversy areas have been released by the topic committee.  You can read all of the controversy papers online in the CEDA forums or on the topic site.
